Competency Based Articulation
We believe strongly that performance assessments are useful tools to broaden access to college acceptance, placement, advising, and engagement. Our work uses performance based assessments with a competency based approach, to broaden access to college credit for high school students. To learn more about this approach, watch our video below. The badges being piloted in the Biotech course pilot will be posted here in the late summer of 2018.

The Pilot Badges
These digital badges are proposed for a competency based articulation with San Diego Miramar College. They were designed by a team of educators that worked with the Southern California Biotechnology Center at San Diego Miramar College. The badges recognize competency with the essential core skills and techniques in the biotechnology laboratory and represent the curriculum of the Introductory Biotechnology Course, Biology 131, at San Diego Miramar College. They are being piloted in the 2018/2019 school year at over 10 high schools throughout San Diego County. If you are interested in piloting any of these badges, please reach out to Alec Barron ([email protected]) to join our learning community.
